Advanced Robot Combat
On March 11, 2004, the website Advanced Robot Combat was formed. The administrators, Diacronic and Komodo, created a well-designed and highly upgraded site that would replace XSOrbit and be the knew home for the ARC community. With Robot Arena 2 dying, ARC went back to what they did best, fantasy leagues.
This new era of custom fantasy leagues would spawn three successful seasons of ARC-staff run tournaments. The first season was ARC: Defiance, followed by ARC: Vengeance (second season) and ARC: Annihilation (third season). With the resurrection of these fantasy leagues, a new fantasy league was also created. Andy (Viper13Black) created Fantasy Robot Rumble (FRR) on RFSHQ and introduced similiar features but many differences as well. This setup also became popular enough for Viper to make a new season. Although with certain issues, FRR split from RFSHQ and became an independent league. With season 2 running smoothly, too, ARC and FRR decided to merge. Therefore, FRR was picked up by ARC. On ARC, FRR ran for two more successful seasons. Although, due to Viper's frequent absences, Succotash 54 (Philip Bergman) picked up the slack and took over seasons 3 and 4 and ran them until the end.
In addition to the fantasy leagues, some other popular activities were created. Gemini created a Survivor-based RPG that had a very successful first season. Although, due to the amount of work involved, Gemini opted out for running season 2. Hence, the torch was passed to FishofDoom (Dylan Pommer) to run season 2. After a dropoff in popularity, things slowed down but was eventually finished by Viper13Black. A popular webshow was created as well made by Gemini and NWOWWE (Josh Noel) called The Gemini Show. This webshow eventually winded up running for two seasons (14 episodes). FishofDoom also created some good entertainment features such as The FoD Show and Cooking with Batista. In addition, he created fun interactive activities such as Monthly Signature Theme and ARC: Secret Santa.
With all the activites and good times on ARC, lack of interest eventually became a problem once again. Diacronic and Komodo even stopped paying for the service of the site and ARC closed down. The ARC community then retreated back to XSOrbit for a temporarily hangout place. However, with the bleak situation at hand, Chris and Josh have created Drowning City. Thinking through things carefully, Chris is determined to change things and bring a more mainstream audience for the future and hopefully save the community he and Josh have become a part. There's a future...and it's name is Drowning City.
